Survivor Joe is an organization that was started with the idea of giving something back to the men and women of our Armed Forces that risk their lives on a day to day basis. They wanted to send something that our troops could use, but did not already have.
Survival Bracelets have been around for a long time. It has been worn by military personnel as a symbol of deployment to the Middle East and also by POW/MIA service members during national conflict. Not only is it a symbol of deployment, but it is also a useful survival tool.
During his tour as an Individual Augmentee with an Army Civil Affairs Battalion in February 2009, an Army Officer showed a Lieutenant in the Navy how to make this same survival bracelet which is very popular among Army Soldiers. They make their own bracelets from parachute cord and then cut a button off of their uniform to secure the end.
Returning home in November 2009, the Lieutenant explained to his mom the significance and use of the bracelet as a survival tool that can be applied in an emergency situation to save their life. Convinced that every soldier in every branch of service could benefit from having this tool, they started the organization to supply every soldier with a Military Specification Grade bracelet, the Suvivor Joe Bracelet.
